LAKE District National Park volunteers celebrated their 60th anniversary by planting a ‘diamond jubilee oak tree’ at High Dam, near Newby Bridge.
Volunteer co-ordinator Tim Duckmanton said: “It’s incredible to think that back in1954 a small group got together to litter pick at Whitemoss Common.
“Fifteen have grown to 500 and six decades down the line we salute their vast achievements.”
