OLIVER Bateman, a partner at Carter Jonas in Kendal, is urging rural businesses to look into applying for government funds available early next year for environmental and land management schemes.
A £900 million pot of money will support businesses under Countryside Stewardship, the new environmental land management scheme unveiled by Defra at the end of November.
Water Capital Grants of up to £10,000 per holding, aimed at reducing water pollution from agriculture, and Woodland Creation Grants are available at the start of 2015.
These grant schemes will be delivered by Natural England, the Forestry Commission, and the Rural
Payments Agency.
