THE Farmer Network has been awarded £48,000 from Prince’s Countryside Fund to finance a new project to improve the viability and sustainability of hill farming communities in Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales.
The aim is to encourage businesses to network and share information between more than 500 hill farmer members in the network. This will include using farm trials to investigate new hill farming systems to stimulate innovation, improve business efficiency and the environment.
The grant is part of £650,000 worth of funding announced by the Prince's Fund, which celebrates its fifth anniversary this year.
