CARLISLE: Wednesday 26th August 2015 - Dairy dispersal sale. North Field Montbeliarde Herd Disperses In Style. Borderway was once again packed to capacity for the North Field Montbeliarde dispersal owned by the Dent family from Barnard Castle, Bowes.  Milk producers from the four corners of the United Kingdom including Orkney, Aberystwyth and the Western Isles descended on Borderway for this unique sale. Trade topped at 1,700gns on a number of occasions with the overall average just over £1200. Commenting after the sale auctioneer Glyn Lucas said “The quality of the North Field herd of Montbeliardes was outstanding as was their breeding and credit for this must go to Fred and Anne Dent who had carefully and astutely developed this wonderful group of animals since they were established in 2003.” This was a sad day for the Dent family who were selling their herd due to a family bereavement. Topping the trade at 1,700gns was North Field Garnet an outstanding cow with a massive frame. She was sired by MicMac and was due again to Osmium for December still giving almost 30kgs. She was purchased by A Willey, Broomfield Farm, Newcastle. Also selling for 1,700gns was North Field Florence 2 sired by Nikos and bred from a top class line of dams sired by many of the breed’s top sires including Lucillius, Genereux and Urganio. This fantastic uddered young cow was fresh in July giving 25kgs and now joins the herd of W & A Hogarth Knockrivoch Farm, Ayrshire. Another fresh cow that caught the eye of all the top breeders was North Field Billet 2 sired by Lecuyer. She sold for 1,620gns to R. Magnay Greenwrae, Gretna. There was a wonderful group of in-calf and recently served heifers that averaged £1484 topping at 1,620gns for North Field Bela 8.  She was a daughter of Ollia and bred from a Gardian dam that sold earlier in the sale. The very special heifer was purchased by EA Kitching & Co Glencartholm Farm, Canonbie.
