Harrison & Hetherington Ltd Kirkby Stephen Breeding Sheep Sale Friday, September 25 Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their Annual Prize Show and Sale of 1,720 Texel, Continental and Mule Ewes, Shearlings and Gimmer Lambs on Friday at Kirkby Stephen Mart. Topping the sale at £1,300 was a Texel cross Shearling from Mr George Slack, Heather Bank, Brackenber which was bought by Lowther Park Farms. Mr Slack’s run of 12 Texel cross Shearling rams sold to average an excellent £620. The pre-sale Show, kindly sponsored by Tunstall Tractors, and Tithebarn saw a wonderful turnout in all classes. Our judge, local quality prime lamb producer Mr Matthew Allinson, Windygate Farm, Winton awarded the overall Championship to a tremendous pure Texel Shearling Ram which later went on to sell for £550 to Mr P Bousfield, Glasslyn House, Brough. All classes and breeds of breeding females were a flying trade being as good a sale as seen anywhere this season.
