Annual Michaelmas Prize Show and Sale of 1,110 store cattle of all classes.
An excellent entry of cattle included a prize show and sale, which was judged by Mr Bruce Jackson of Alne, sponsored by Carr’s Billington Agriculture & Allflex (Livestock Identification).
Mr N Slack, Plum Tree House enjoyed a good day taking both Champion & Reserve Champion with a Limousin bullock and a British Blue bullock respectively, both cattle made £1,450 through the ring.

On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their annual Michaelmas Prize Show and Sale of 1,110 store cattle of all classes.
Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their largest sale of Store Cattle for some time on Monday. An excellent entry of cattle included a prize show and sale, which was judged by Mr Bruce Jackson of Alne, sponsored by Carr’s Billington Agriculture & Allflex (Livestock Identification).
Mr N Slack, Plum Tree House enjoyed a good day taking both Champion & Reserve Champion with a Limousin bullock and a British Blue bullock respectively, both cattle made £1,450 through the ring.

Fortnightly sale of 60 OTM Cattle.
All buyers were in attendance but trade was just a little easier for most grades. The sale averaged 111.9p/kg, reaching a top mark of 178.5p/kg for a Limousin cow from Messrs JB Holliday & Son, Town Head.
Cast bulls saw best quality in demand, selling to 147.5p/kg for a British Blue from Messrs Bindloss & Son, Shap Abbey, bought by Mr Owain Llyr.

Weekly sale of 4,144 prime sheep, comprising of 2,663 prime lambs and 1,481 cast ewes & rams.
Prime lambs sold once again sold to a stronger trade than Tuesday’s national prices, with an overall average of 157.04p/kg SQQ being achieved.
The sale peaked at 212.0p/kg for a pen of Beltex lambs from Mr WH Brass, Low Row, purchased by Mr M Bowe, Keswick.
Top price per head on the day was £95, this was also paid to Mr WH Brass, Low Row for a pair of Beltex lambs, bought by Mr R Skelton, Dearham.
