Special Sale – Herdwick And Swaledale Rams

On Tuesday 29th September Harrison and Hetherington conducted the annual show and sale of Swaledale and Herdwick rams within Broughton Auction Mart.

Herdwick Rams: From early morning the market was full of potential purchases who  all watched the Show ring eagerly to pick out their choice and was kindly judged by Mr Mark Potter of Ulcat Row,Matterdale, Chris Hartley of Barfield, Bootle and the referee was Mr Mark Coopper of Troughton they awarded the following prizes.

Topping the day was a shearling from Messrs Graves, Drigg Cross, Holmrook which seemed to be everyone’s favourite taking the top price of 5,000gns selling to Anthony Hartley, Turner Hall.  The mornings Show Champion also seemed to catch a few eyes as well as the Judges seeing the quality price of 3,000gns from Messrs Benson, Fellfoot, Ambleside.  The sale went on to have a very high sales percentage.

Swaledale Rams: Prior to the Herdwick Sale, the Swaledale rams saw a very large demand, seeing the pre sale Champion topping the day at 700 selling to the Judge Messrs Sibson, Burnside, Keswick also seeing a very high sales percentage throughout
