Prime Sheep

Forward: 3,184 prime sheep, comprising of 2,206 prime lambs & 978 cast ewes & rams.
Topping the sale at 208.0p/kg was a single Texel lamb from Mr JB Bowness, Bank Farm, purchased by Mr S Stodart, Wigton.
Top price per head on the day was £86, this was paid for pair of Beltex Lambs from Messrs AJ & FM Harrison, Grange Hall, also purchased by Mr S Stodart.
All classes of prime sheep were dearer on the fortnight, lambs were just over 10p/kg dearer on the week.
Cast Ewes & Rams to a lift on the week, with Mule ewes said to be £15 per head up on the week and meaty horned ewes & Continental ewes £5 up on the week.

A large presence of buyers gathered around to conduct a strong trade throughout, Mule gimmer lambs were very easy to sell.
