Prime Stock Christmas Show at Lancaster Prime Lambs A smaller entry of just over 700 prime lambs forward this week sold to a poorer trade then previous week. The trade weakened all week last week with many deadweight companies also dropping their prices. Continental lambs sold in the 156 – 166ppk. An average of 150ppk. P Lawrenson of Walmsley Fold sold the top price of the day of £76 with continental lambs 45kg to 48kg selling towards the mid-fifties. Mules topped at £67 for a pen of 46kg from WJ Barker of Brown Edge with mules 45-46kg selling between £65 and £67. Cast Sheep The weekly sale of cast ewes had a bumper entry of 150 ewes forward today selling in line with other markets with vendors very cautious to purchase over fat ewes with lean ewes easiest sold. A large number of ewes forward nationwide. Texel ewes sold to £105 from Frank Towers of Wray. Mule ewes sold into the early sixties with best horned ewes achieving early fifties.

Prime Beef A handful of bulls forward this morning sold morning sold to their value for the bulls forward.
