PRIME SHEEP: A bumper show of 3483 prime lambs were forward at the weekly sale, whereby all classes saw a rise on the week, and both new vendors and purchasers were in attendance. An SQQ of 171.52ppk was achieved and an overall of 166.34ppk, which included 1597 heavy types sold.

The sale peaked at £96.80 for a fabulous Texel lamb consigned by Messrs Browell of Quarry House, Hexham which was purchased by Mr Robert Skelton. Top pence per kilo honours was claimed by Messrs Smith-Jackson of High town, Haltwistle at 225.8ppk for a pen of 3 Texel lambs purchased by Dunbia Ltd.

STORE SHEEP At Borderway Mart Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store sheep which saw a small show but demand and prices were well up. Topping the trade was the first pen of the day for 16 tremendous Beltex lambs peaking at £70. This great run of sheep was from Messrs Thornborrow, Newbiggin Hall. Many more lambs could have been sold and would have been to vendors advantage.
