Calves

A reduced entry of calves, of only youngest sorts, sold to £200 for AA x Bulls from JW&D Robinson & Sons. Dairy Bulls sold to £95, for a Shorthorn from JR Handley. B&W sold to £150 for weaned calves from C Wilson. Rearing calves to £90 with youngest sorts £35 - £50.

Store Hoggs Store Hoggs saw a rise in prices achieved, with many vendors leaving highly suited with their prices. A top price of £76, with other strongest sorts £70, medium keep lambs £60 - £66, with smaller sorts towards £50. Hill lambs forward sold to £50 for Rough Fells with Swaledales and Herdwicks in the late £30’s to early £40’s.

A ringside of 10 competing buyers for all classes of hoggs saw a complete clearance with another strong entry required for the next sale on Thursday 28th January.

Breeding Sheep The opening sale of breeding sheep saw a top price of £110 achieved for correct mule ewes carrying twins. Older ewes sold to £92, with others £89 for b/m continental ewes carrying twins. Plenty of on-lookers for both selling and buying.
