THE TRADITIONAL Troutbeck hunt attracted record crowds as the annual event led by Coniston Foxhounds pulled in around 600 spectators on Saturday.
Michael Nicholson was appointed mayor' at the traditional supper and sing-song in the Queen's Head pub on Friday night.
Hunters gathered at the pub next morning a tradition since 1870. After a "tremendous" run of nearly six hours in the hills the group retired with no foxes being accounted for.
Senior Master of the Coniston Foxhounds Roger Westmorland said: "It was the biggest turnout we have ever had I was delighted."
Back at the Queen's Head, there was more singing and the traditional stick and terrier show. Bob Cannan, from Kendal, won the stick show and Julie Beattie from Troutbeck showed the champion terrier.
