AN ANNUAL celebration of writing in South Lakeland and Furness returns today (Friday, January 2) for more than a week of activities and performance.
The Word Market Writers' and Readers' Festival runs in Kendal and Ulverston until next Sunday and has a packed programme full of plays, poetry and prose.
The first event at the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal, is a writing workshop and poetry reading next Tuesday from 1pm with Graham Mort, postgraduate creative writing director at Lancaster University, while on Wednesday the Coronation Hall at Ulverston plays host to a book and film event, showcasing 1961 movie The Innocents, with a talk beforehand on the book which inspired it.
Events are also scheduled to take place at Forum 28 in Barrow. For more information, contact Word Market on 07812 172193 or visit www.wordmarket.org.uk
