A TRIBUTE to one of Furness's favourite sons and a national sporting hero will be unveiled on Friday.
The one and a half times life size statue of former England and Liverpool captain, the late Emlyn Hughes, has been commissioned by Barrow Borough Council and will be situated in front of the recently developed Emlyn Hughes House, Barrow.
Artist Chris Kelly and Castle Fine Arts foundry produced the memorial for the Freeman of the Borough, and Brian Barwick, chief executive of the Football Association, will dedicate the statue at 2pm.
Tom Campbell, council chief executive, said: "Brian has had a long association and friendship with Emlyn and his family."
