THE Lake District National Park Authority's decision to refuse planning permission for a single-storey home near Broughton-in-Furness has been upheld by a Government inspector.
An appeal against the authority's decision, made by D Satterthwaite, was dismissed by the inspector, Brendan Lyons.
Mr Lyons said the applicant had failed to show evidence of a need for affordable housing at the site, which is close to the A595 near Boothwaite Nook. He also believed the single-story "would be unlikely to recreate a traditional Lakeland appearance".
He added: "The proposal would represent a further intensification of built form in the countryside setting of the national park, which has the highest status of protection for landscape and scenic beauty."
