To mark the 200th anniversary of The Westmorland Gazette in 2018, we are publishing a photograph from our archives on our website every day this year.
Today's photograph is taken from the beginning of June, 1994, when thousands of travellers from every corner of the British Isles converged on Appleby for the annual horse fair.
A Gazette photographer caught this traditional caravan on film as it travelled past Kirkby Lonsdale.
