A PLEA was made to the residents of Burneside tonight (Tuesday) by a member of the residents' association, after falling attendance numbers at meetings.
Speaking at the end of a meeting organised to discuss the South Lakeland Development Framework, which could see over 120 new homes built in the village, local resident John Rogers urged his neighbours to get more involved.
Mr Rogers, who regularly attends meetings of the residents' association, said that despite the fact more than 2,000 people live in Burneside, at the last few meetings only about six or seven people had showed up.
Burneside Residents Association was formed two years ago to provide an opportunity for residents to voice their complaints and get things done about various concerns affecting the village and surrounding area.At the most recent meeting members discussed a number of problems, including a vandalised bus shelter, speeding traffic, litter dropping, dog fouling and the raw sewage that appears in the road near Steeles Row after heavy rainfall.Mr Rogers said: "On the basis of what has so far been achieved through the efforts of the small number of members, it is felt that far more results could be obtained through a stronger representation of villagers putting their voice to any approaches made to councils or other organisations responsible for getting things done."The next meeting will be at 7.30pm on June 9 at Burneside Cricket Club.
