GRAYRIGG is celebrating over half a century of charity concerts.

Every year since 1957 the village has raised money for charitable causes by holding a musical show for local residents.

This year the concerts raised money for Diabetes UK and Asthma UK.

In the afternoon the over 60s of the parish were treated to a three-course meal followed by a concert in the Grayrigg Coronation Hall.

On the following Monday, MS Sufferers from Kendal and the surrounding district were invited to watch the concert, then treated to supper.

There has been an extra long wait to celebrate 50 years of the Grayrigg annual concerts, as repair work on the Coronation Hall in 2007 meant the over 60s were instead taken on a coach trip.
