VILLAGERS in the vicinity of the Grayrigg rail crash will be kept up to date through regular bulletins from the police as the major clear-up operation takes place.

Currently two roads are under construction - one form the Docker road that leads under the viaduct, and one from the A685 - to enable the heavy lifting gear to be brought in.

PC Jo Fawcett, of the Kendal rural policing team, said regular bulletins would be published and put with the newspapers at Grayrigg School and on noticeboards in the village, to keep people informed of progress.

If residents have any concerns they can contact Cumbria Constabulary on 0845-3300247.
