HEAVY lifting gear to remove the stricken rail carriages is expected to arrive in Grayrigg today (Thursday).
Work has continued day and night to construct an access road to the crash site and two large cranes are on their way.
More than 15 wagons are needed to carry the equipment, which will be assembled on site.
The lorries will travel to Grayrigg from junction 38 of the M6. Villagers are being reminded to keep the road clear at all times to ensure the lorries can get access.
If anyone has concerns about the operation call Cumbria Police on 0845-3300247.
