PLANS to extend a hotel in Grasmere, which prompted more than 170 letters of objection from local people, have been temporarily withdrawn by the applicant just two weeks before they were due to be considered.

Mick Casey, of the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA), said the proposal to extend the Waterside Hotel would no longer be addressed at the development control committee's March meeting, as the applicant wished amendments to be made to the original plans.

They are likely to go before members in April or May instead.
