AN ULLSWATER holiday cottage has won a prestigious national holiday award.
Stone Cottage in Deepdale won Gold in the Self Catering holiday of the year category at the Enjoy England Awards in Liverpool.
Judges praised the owners for their dedicated hard work in maintaining the guesthouse, which boasts many original features and a private chef service.
Cumbria Tourism chief executive, Ian Stephens, said the region's overall representation in the competition was testament to the area's wealth of quality accomodation.
"The fact that Cumbria, for the second year in succession, had three finalists represented in this prestigious, nationwide competition is growing evidence of how tourism businesses here are continually raising the standard," he said.
"Both Tullie House in Carlisle and Boltongate Old Rectory in Ireby should also be congratulated for their hard work in seeing off over 100 regional winners to make it through the finals of the national awards," he continued.
