Kirkby Lonsdale gears up for brass extravaganza

KIRKBY Lonsdale will resonate to the sound of ten brass bands next weekend when the town's annual musical spectacular gets underway.

The popular Brass Band Contest will see musicians travel from across the country to march through the street and perform in the Market Square on Sunday (June 15).

Among those taking part will be the town's own band, which recently came second in the North of England Brass Band Championships and will compete in the national finals in Harrogate in September.
