APPLEBY Cricket Club's profession player has arrived after playing in the finals of the district club competition in his native Sri Lanka.
This is the fourth English cricket season that 25-year-old Tillikiratne Sampath has played in, but it will be his first in northern England.
Tillikiratne, know as Nish told The Messenger: "I played two seasons in London and last year in Leicester. It is the first time I have been so far north in England and I have found it a wonderful place.
"Due to my cricketing commitments in Sri Lanka, I was delayed in getting to Appleby. The district team I play for reached the finals, but unfortunately we didn't win. As soon as the competition was over, I flew out to England where I will be until September. When I return to Sri Lanka it will be the start of the cricketing season there."
