A YOUNG couple from Eden have created a cosy love nest in a desirable village location courtesy of the council.

A green recycling wheely bin has provided an unlikely home for two breeding robin red breasts looking for a restful residence in which to raise their family.

The nest was discovered by residents near Newbiggin, Temple Sowerby, who contacted Eden District Council recycling officers after coming across the nest while gardening.

As they were both keen gardeners and wildlife enthusiasts, the householders requested an additional bin to enable them to keep on gardening while allowing the robins to raise their young undisturbed.
