New medical centre given the go-ahead

EDEN District Council has given the green light to plans for a new medical centre and doctors surgery in Shap, near Penrith, despite objections from the parish council.

PLANS for £30 million of improvements to the A66 between the M6 and West Cumbria and improvements to the rolling stock, stations and railway infrastructure on the West Coast Main Line – both of which run through Eden – were confirmed on Friday with the announcement that NMP is the preferred bidder to clean up the Sellafield nuclear site.
