A FUNDRAISER who is travelling the length of Britain in aid of the World Toilet Organisation will be hoping South Lakeland's public spend more than a penny when she passes through the district tomorrow (Saturday).

Frances Lee, from Leeds, is visiting public lavatories between Land's End and John O Groats, and is due to arrive in Sedbergh, where she will be holding a collection outside the Main Street conveniences from 11am-12pm.

Ms Lee said she had been moved to stage the event after learning 42 per cent of the world's population was without access to a toilet.

She said money raised from her journey, which is taking place during the United Nations International Year of Sanitation, would help the WTO provide sanitation to those without.
