THE vast majority of Britons want to see more investment in rural Britain a new survey reveals.

More than eight out of 10 people (84 per cent) think the Government should spend money on preserving and managing the countryside.

And 61 per cent say the current spend of £3billion per year is either the right amount of public money to spend on it or too little.

More than 1500 people were polled in research commissioned by the Country Landowners Association to highlight public support for continued investment in the countryside post-Brexit

CLA President Ross Murray said: “It ‘s reassuring to see the countryside matters to so many of the Great British public. Our survey has shown a ringing endorsement of how important it is so we continue to eat wholesome food, breathe clean air and enjoy diversity of wildlife.
