A COUNTY council has asked people to think about growing their family through adoption.

Lancashire County Council will hold the event to help residents find out about adoption and the process involved.

The council said its focus is on two different types of adoption, which aim to ensure that more babies and young children can go to live with their permanent family more quickly.

These are' Best for Baby' (concurrent placements), which place babies and young children, aged up to two, with foster carers who may go on to give them a permanent home.

While there is also 'Better Beginnings" (The Fostering for Adoption scheme) which is for children where there is no realistic prospect of a return to their birth family.

County councillor Susie Charlies, cabinet member for children, young people and schools, said: "We're looking for people from all backgrounds to offer a permanent home and family to children who are not able to live with their birth family. "

Anyone thinking about starting or growing their family through adoption can find out more by attending the information evening on Tuesday, November 14 at the county hall on Fishergate, in Preston from 6pm to 7.30pm.
