LUXURY new retirement apartments in Carnforth have been officially opened by Morecambe and Lunesdale MP David Morris.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at Keerford View, McCarthy and Stone's newly built flats on Lancaster Road.

The MP toured the site and the show complex with the developer's North West marketing manager Deborah Bond and Keerford View sales executive Lesley Robertson. He found out how the new homes will help retired people in north Lancashire to lead independent, active lives surrounded by like-minded neighbours.

"It was a pleasure to visit the site of McCarthy and Stone’s new development in Carnforth, and to take a closer look at the show complex and the first completed apartments," said Mr Morris.

"I enjoyed meeting the site team at Keerford View and hearing first-hand about the housebuilder’s latest retirement living development, which will help to meet the needs of retirees in Carnforth and surrounding areas."

The apartments have been designed for people over 60, and there are to be 40 one and two-bedroom properties, priced from £194,999 and £259,999 respectively. The site backs onto Carnforth Cricket Club.

Sales and marketing director Fiona Brooks said McCarthy and Stone was "delighted" the MP was able to take the time to visit the Carnforth site. She said the homes would help people to "make the most of their retirement years" by living as independently as possible, close to town and public transport.

Keerford View is to feature a shared lounge, landscaped gardens, a guest suite for visiting friends or family, a house manager, a secure entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points.
