ORGANISERS of a popular charity race are encouraging people to sign up to stay health over Christmas.

The East Lancashire Hospice 10K will take place on January 14 with all proceeds going to East Lancashire Hospice

The run, which is viewed as the first race of the season by many clubs, has raised nearly £50,000 for the hospice in the last four years.

The next 10K will be hosted by Gaskell Motor Bodies, Great Harwood and is expected to attract over 500 people for the adult, junior and 2k fun run categories.

Business owner Nick Gaskell said: “The race has become more and more popular.

It’s seen as the first race of the season and is used as a training run by a number of clubs.”

The run will starts at Gaskell Motor Bodies on Alan Ramsbottom Way and follows cycle tracks, the old railway, Cutwood Park and back along the canal tow path.

Entry will be £12 for all runners. Registration will start at 9.30am on the day, with the race commencing at 11am.
