A NEW plan has been launched by County Hall to improve the job prospects for children and young people up to the age of 25.

Lancashire County Council have produced a new 'Lancashire Ambition' plan which pledges to provide the best education for youngsters.

The plan outlines how the county council will work closely with partners in health, education, governing bodies, parents and children and young people themselves, to make sure that everyone can access a good education and is able to perform to the best of their abilities.

If your child goes to a school or an educational setting in Lancashire, the ambition is that all children leave school fully literate and to compete with others nationally.

The council's ambition is also to ensure each school has a rich and broad curriculum that matches the needs of the children, is designed by the school and is innovative.

County Cllr Susie Charles, cabinet member for Children, Young People and Schools, said: "All of Lancashire's children and young people have the right to achieve and aspire to be the very best they can, to make the most of their lives and be able to do so in a safe and secure environment.

"We will work in partnership to achieve our aims to raise achievement for all."
