LUNE Valley villagers fighting for Hornby's swimming pool have set their sights on an Easter reopening.
The community group behind the hoped-for reopening took a further step forward last week. They met officials from Lancashire County Council at the Melling Road pool to agree a draft timetable and to inspect the 40-year-old building.
Roger Carter, of the Lune Valley Community Society, said campaigners are still busy raising money to ensure a sound economic future for the pool, which was mothballed in March 2017 due to budget cuts.
The leisure property looks set to be transferred to the society once a business case has been finalised.
Meanwhile, 1950s-style rock and roll band The Jetsons performed to a capacity crowd at Arkholme Village Hall on Saturday to help raise £1,000 for the swimming pool campaign.
Campaign chairman Bob McGachie announced he was hopeful Hornby pool would reopen over the Easter weekend.
