CORONERS for Lancashire have sworn the oath of office during a ceremony at Lancaster Castle.
The swearing of oath was the first since the merger of the coroners' services covering Lancashire County Council and Blackburn with Darwen Council.
Coroners and assistant coroners gathered at the castle's Shire Hall for the ceremony, led by High Sheriff of Lancashire Robert Mitchel Webb.
Senior coroner is Dr James Adeley, supported by area coroners Richard Taylor and James Newman. They deal with around 4,000 deaths per year.
