RIBBLE Valley MP Nigel Evans has told the government new blue UK passports must be manufactured in Britain.

The leading Brexit supporter is angry the iconic travel document to replace the current Burgundy EU version will be made in France or Holland by Gemalto.

Tory backbencher Mr Evans is demanding a rethink to give current UK manufacturer De La Rue the contract.

After presenting a 318,727 signature petition to Ten Downing Street, Mr Evans said: “This is not simply about cost-efficiencies, this is about national security

“Passports are the most important official documents that most British citizens will own."
