RIBBLE Valley MP Nigel Evans has urged the government to review all cases where the children of West Indian immigrants to the UK may have been deported back to the Caribbean.

The Tory backbencher tackled Home Secretary Amber Rudd after she apologised for the treatment of 'The Windrush Generation' by officials.

She made a statement in the House of Commons after it emerged that some people who arrived from the Commonwealth decades ago as children were now being incorrectly identified as illegal immigrants.

Mrs Rudd announced a new taskforce to help those affected.

Mr Evans told her: "I was sickened to read these stories and I am reassured by what you had to say today.

" However, will you ask your officials to review all cases where it is a possibility that people from the Windrush generation have been deported?

Mrs Rudd told him: "I do not have any evidence to suggest that anybody has been removed in that way.

"Some people are talking as though this has taken place and it has been suggested in some media companies that it has, so I invite people who have any such evidence to bring it to the Home Office so that we can take a look."

Mr Evans said afterwards that any constituents threatened with deportation should contact his office.
