THE Meteorological Office has stepped in to save the Morecambe Weather Station.
The station, based in Morecambe Town Hall gardens, had been earmarked for closure by Lancaster City Council from April in order to save £1,500 a year.
But after a consultation process, the Met Office has agreed to fund the automation of the station from this April.
