A FAMILY has paid tribute to a ‘bubbly’ Carnforth High School pupil who died after being in collision with a bus in Lancaster.
Police said Dean Wilkinson, 13, of Mount Avenue, Lancaster, was running along a verge on Slyne Road at around 8.10pm on Monday when he veered in front of the bus as it was about to pass him.
He was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mum Tami Cragg said: “Dean was a typical lad. He had a bubbly personality and was always laughing and joking.
“He had just started to play rugby for his school team and enjoyed playing computer games and watching horror films.
“He was a fantastic son, brother and grandson who came from a loving family.”
Dean also leaves behind his father Christopher Wilkinson and sisters Abbie, eight, and Ruby, two.
The driver of the bus was taken to hospital suffering from shock, but later released.
Police are treating the death as a ‘tragic accident’, but want to speak to the occupants of a car travelling in the opposite direction at the time or anyone who witnessed the incident.
