The Festival Players are celebrating their 30th year of touring and during an 80-date tour of the UK, will stop at Leighton Hall near Carnforth in June and July for a double bill of Shakespeare.

Two of the Bard’s most popular plays, Henry IV and As You Like It, will be performed alfresco in Leighton’s gardens.

Supporters of Shakespeare and devotees of drama will be treated to a free ticket for As You Like It, if they come along to Henry IV on June 25.

Henry IV is an epic historical drama which brings to life the humanity, politics, battles and humour of this period in medieval Britain. It is a spirited adaptation focussing on the loveable, larger than life rogue Sir John Falstaff and his adventures with Prince Hal, the future King Henry V. It will be performed on June 25 with an all-male cast.

Suzie Reynolds, owner of Leighton Hall, said: “The Festival Players perform here every year and never disappoint. The plays are always a refreshing take on Shakespeare’s original work. We think Leighton provides the perfect backdrop for the cast and together with live, original music written especially for each play, it’s a perfect summers evening of entertainment”.

Rain or shine, the shows starts at 7:30pm but Leighton’s grounds open at 6pm and visitors are welcome to bring their own picnics.
