A POLICE officer was injured when his patrol car was in a collision with a vehicle that had allegedly been stolen from North Yorkshire.
The peace and quiet of Silverdale was shattered on Monday morning as police vehicles and a helicopter swooped on the village.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said the car had been stolen in North Yorkshire before making its way to Silverdale followed by a police car.
The collision took place in Shore Road which was then cordoned off to traffic.
Staff at Silverdale Golf Club told the Gazette how they heard police sirens and an helicopter overhead.
Parish councillor Eve Holden said: “We saw the police helicopter overhead and then word got around Silverdale that the road was blocked off.
“It seemed to go on for quite a while and there were police around for about an hour or so.”
The policeman was not seriously hurt.
l Two 15-year-old Bentham boys were charged with aggravated vehicle taking and vehicle damage – one was also charged with driving a car without a licence or insurance, and failing to stop after a road accident.
A 14-year-old boy, from Carnforth, was charged with aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving.
All three have been bailed to appear at Lancaster Youth Court on October 12.
