South Lakeland District Council and Grange Town Council are encouraging the public to have their say on what will happen to the Grange-over-Sands Lido.

A consultation is still underway and after a good response since opening on July 26 there is now only less than two weeks for people to share their views and ideas.

The survey will close on 1 September.

South Lakeland District Council is moving forward with plans for the Grade II listed building and applying for Heritage Lottery Funding to redevelop the site as part of the Berners development in the town.

Following a tender process Neo Now and Partners have been chosen to start work on the application with an aim to submit a Stage 1 Application by January 2014.

Over the next six months they will be working closely with SLDC, Grange Town Council and the local community on future development plans for the site.

Members of the public can access the survey via the SLDC website www.southlakeland.gov.uk or the Grange Town Council website www.grangeoversands.net.

Paper copies are available in the library and the Victoria Hall at Grange-over-Sands plus SLDC offices in Kendal, Windermere and Ulverston.

Councillor Graham Vincent, portfolio holder for health and wellbeing, said: “We would encourage the public to share their views on how the Lido can be developed.

"It’s important that residents and visitors have their say on its future. The Lido is an iconic part of Grange- over-Sands and South Lakeland, and we really want to make sure we get sufficient funding for a sustainable development that could benefit the whole community.”

Councillor Tom Harvey, Grange Town Council and SLDC, added: “The response so far has been fantastic but I'm sure there are still people who have their own thoughts on what should be done with it but haven't got round to saying what they are.

"The Lido is real asset in our town and I would urge anyone who has not yet had their say to take 5 minutes either online or in person and give their views before we hit the deadline."
