Utilities boss is guest speaker

Sir Richard Evans will be the guest speaker at the annual Furness Enterprise open meeting being held at the Abbey House Hotel on December 6.

Sir Richard is a former chairman of BAE Systems and is now chairman of the energy and utility group, United Utilities. He will be giving his perspective, as one of the UK's most prominent business leaders, on the challenges and opportunities facing the North West and Furness.

Furness Enterprise chief executive Harry Knowles will also outline how the development agency has supported business growth this year.

Mr Knowles said he was delighted Sir Richard had agreed to address local business leaders.

"He has tremendous drive and experience of working with Government at the highest level and of the defence, manufacturing and service industry. This presentation, North West Perspectives, will appeal to all business people, both owners and individual entrepreneurs and people who are just setting up their own business who are seeking inspiration."
