A CRASH on the A590, near Grange-over-Sands, has forced one lane of the road to close.
It is believed the collision, at around 4pm, was caused by a jackknifed lorry between B5277 and A5074 (Levens) as motorists attempted to drive through heavy snow on roads.
Meanwhile the A592 Kirkstone Pass is closed in both directions due to ice and snow between A591 Ambleside Road (Troutbeck Bridge) and B5320 (Watermillock).
There is also delays on the M6 motorway Northbound between J37 (Kendal) and J39 (Shap) with the average speed being 35mph
Temperatures are due to plunge to around -9.2°C tonight.
A spokesperson from Kendal Police Station said since around 2pm today (Saturday) there have been approximately 15 weather related incidents reported to police but so far no one has been seriously injured.
