ON MONDAY, August 4, the nation will be encouraged to switch off lights and return to candle power for the evening as a mark of remem-brance for those who gave their lives in World War One.
Candles will be available in St Andrew’s Church at £5 each, with £2.33 going to the Royal British Legion.
This historic day marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the conflict and there will be a short commemoration service at the war memorial at 9pm followed by a service at St Andrew’s.
The Town Band will play Sunset and the church service will be marked by the presentation of the RBL Standard. People are welcome to come and go as they please.
