ORGANISERS of the popular Settle Sessions poetry recitals are to run two free summer-holiday workshops to inspire youngsters to get into poetry.

Run in partnership with Settle Library, the two fun and relaxed sessions will be taught by experienced poets who will help budding young writers create their own poem.

The sessions are aimed at youngsters aged between seven and 12 and will take place at the library on the next two Thursdays, August 20 and 27.

Committee member Kathy Swinscoe, from The Courtyard Dairy, Settle, said: “We hope it will be a fun and friendly couple of days so that young people can have a go at making up their own poem – there are no rights and wrongs just hopefully a lot of inspiring ideas!”

There will also be an opportunity for the newly inspired poets to perform their poems in front of a live audience at the next Settle Sessions event at The Folly.

Those interested should register their interest with Settle Library Settle Sessions was set up in 2013 to bring leading poets and writers to Settle. It holds four evenings a year at the grade one listed Folly and the next session will take place on Friday, September 11, at 7.30pm.
