TWO young Settle footballers have been invited for a trial with Morecambe FC.

Seven-year-old friends Harvey Green and Theo Green, who play for Settle United under sevens, will be attending four trials this month in an effort to be accepted into the League Two club's youth academy.

The two football-mad Settle Primary School pupils have had an excellent season, and were recently spotted at a tournament by a Morecambe FC scout.

"Their team has had a fantastic season and they won every game they played," said Harvey's dad, Tim Green, of Settle. "They won the league and two tournaments – one at Windermere and one in Settle."

Tim said Harvey had had an excellent season, which had seen him win seven trophies, including Player of the Year.

The young striker's 30 goals also earned him the accolade of being the top goalscorer in the Dales League.

"He's very skilful and it's good to see him scoring goals," said Tim. "People are talking about him and I'm very proud of him.

"Harvey loves his football. He kicks a football from 7am to 8pm. His dream is to play for Liverpool."

Theo's mum, Rachel Eccleston, of Horton-in-Ribblesdale, said: "Football is pretty much 24/7 for Theo. He plays it in the morning, in the evening and will play it with anybody who will play with him."

Theo, a goal-scoring winger, often provides the crosses for Harvey to bang into the back of the net.

"It's nice Theo's been picked to try out for the academy," said Rachel. "He makes me quite proud. He's always trying his hardest."

The Morecambe trials will take place every Friday evening in August, with talented six to 16-year-olds from across the north of England invited to the sessions by the club.
