They also spoke about how Angus Fire - the only place in the country to make firefighting foams - can assist in national resilience planning.

Mr Smith watched a demonstration of the new Angus CoolFire system, which is able to cut through modern building materials, using a mixture of cutting abrasive and high pressure water.

It means firefighters are able to gain access to a fire without introducing oxygen, so meaning they are safe at all times.

Once CoolFire has cut through the building it injects a water mist, which then suppresses and reduces the fire, cools and condenses fire gases and quickly reduces the temperature to allow a safe entry.

Mr Smith said he found the visit very interesting. “I am delighted I was able to visit Angus Fire’s manufacturing facility in Bentham and to see the latest fire-fighting technology being demonstrated.”

Angus Fire exports more than 70 per cent of its production and engages in a number of activities in the Bentham community.
