SPECIALIST engineers have been abseiling down the side and underneath the 24 arches of the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct carrying out routine checks of every nook and cranny of the structure.
The Amey workers have been carrying out a thorough inspection of the 104ft high sculpture to make sure the Settle to Carlisle railway remains in a safe working condition.
Adam Spillane, rope access manager at Amey, which has rail offices throughout the North, said: “Accessing the bridge by abseiling is the fastest and most efficient way of carrying out our examinations and assessments on such a high structure.”
