GOOD progress is being made on a long distance footpath to commemorate Alfred Wainwright’s Settle to Hadrian’s Wall walk.
The proposed 247-mile route is on track to open in September 25, 2013 - the 75th anniversary of the day the legendary Kendal guide book writer set off on his Pennine Journey.
A blue plaque has been erected at Settle Railway Station dedicated to Wainwright and agreement has been made with highways authorities to waymark the route.
The Ordnance Survey has also said it will add the footpath to its Landranger and Explorer mapping systems once finished.
