A65 closed after HGV collision

MOTORISTS on the A65 are being diverted after two HGVs collided at 11.50am near Settle.

The road is likely to be closed until 7pm as emergency services clear the scene at Long Preston.

Train passengers have also been hit by delays to their journeys after the Settle to Carlisle railway was closed by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews because one lorry had spilt its load of 50 cylinders containing gases including nitrogen and oxygen.

The line was reopened at 2.30pm.

The two drivers were treated at the scene before being airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary.
